Role in Ecosystem:

Largemouth bass are the top predator in most Iowa farm ponds.  It is important to keep their population healthy to maintain a productive pond. Largemouth bass consume a large amount of bluegills and insects. In order to keep your bass population healthy make certain to keep enough food in the pond to feed these predators. Be sure to maintain a ratio of one pound of bass needs approximately five pounds of bluegills in order to keep the population healthy.
